Now every user can not only see the list of errors, but also find the cause of slow report generation on their own, right in the TechnoDoc interface, without digging through application server logs.

Report generation metrics — calculation duration and status of each value, the number of errors and the total report calculation time.

Breakdown by timestamp — for each timestamp, the log shows which parameters took the longest to calculate and what status the system assigned to each value.

Calculation timeline — parameters are laid out on a chart in the order they were calculated, clearly showing how much each one contributes to the total report generation time.

Error text — the error description, with the line number in the parameter formula, is shown in the same window.

Export — log records can be exported to CSV and Excel.

The calculation log turns tracking down a slow report or a template error from a lengthy investigation into a few minutes in a single window: it shows which parameter and which timestamp need attention and what to fix in the formula.

The new version introduces the Information Models module. You can now describe the structure of your enterprise right in TechnoDoc and use it in reports straight away, with no separate system for maintaining reference data.

Enterprise structure as a tree

An information model presents a production site or automation object — workshops, areas, lines, equipment — as a clear tree.

Every node has its own attributes: numbers, strings, logical values, dates.

Attributes are a convenient place for data that SCADA does not have: equipment nameplate data, commissioning date, the person responsible for the object. Such values are entered once and are then used on a par with data from external connections.

There can be several models — for example, one for each workshop. Access to each model is configured separately for user roles.

Information models in reports

Model nodes and attributes are available to the report designer as a data source, just like SCADA tags and other external connections.

A parameter of the Information Model type puts a reference to the model, the value of a node attribute or a whole list of nodes into the report.

In a parameter of the Log type, the user selects a model node right when filling in the report.

Moving models between servers

Models are exported to a file and imported from it, so a model prepared on one server is easy to move to another.

Before import, TechnoDoc shows which models will be added and which will be updated.

Information models let you keep data about enterprise objects where reports are generated and use it in calculations straight away. For details on working with models, see the Information Models documentation section.

In the new version we focused on performance: we optimized the client and server sides and taught the system to confidently handle very large reports containing millions of values. The application server now uses significantly less RAM, and RAM consumption on the user's workstation stays low.

Highlights of the release:

The client opens reports with up to 8 million parameter values: large tables are displayed page by page.

During report generation the application server writes data to disk instead of keeping it in RAM. The amount of memory available to the server can be limited.

Data can be exported to Excel or CSV without creating and viewing the report.

Client optimization

It is now possible to work on the client with reports containing up to 8 million parameter values. Thanks to the paginated display of large tables, RAM consumption on client workstations stays low.

Improved the report user interface.

Server optimization

During report generation, data is streamed to disk instead of RAM, which significantly reduced the application server's memory consumption.

Added the ability to set the maximum amount of RAM the application server may use.

Optimized the algorithm for querying data from the historical database: data is loaded in chunks of several hours per parameter and cached in memory for fast value lookup.

Reports and export

Added a limit on the number of steps in a report with user notification (default — 86,400, the number of seconds in a day) and a separate limit on the number of rows when exporting.

Added fast report export to Excel without markup.

Added export of a report to Excel/CSV without creating and viewing it — the fastest way to export data, for example, for a day.

When exporting to Excel, numbers are stored with the «number» type, and the decimal separator is taken from the operating system's regional settings.

Added a default time format setting.

These changes make it possible to generate, view and export reports with millions of values while keeping resource consumption minimal.
